The United States is one of the preeminent producers of dimension stone in the world. In 2006 alone, the U.S. quarried and produced more than 1.3 trillion tons, with sandstone sales comprising 13% of this market by tonnage. As the market continues to evolve and change with the advent of “green homes” becoming more and more the standard, Sandstone is expected to be a market leader in not only the home building industry, but in sandstone production to commercial projects.

Characteristics of native Texas sandstone are heavily dependent upon the formation from which they are quarried. In Texas, it is widely acknowledged that Formation #3 (located in San Saba County) produces some of the highest quality characteristic sandstone in the State. Sunbelt Sandstone’s quarry is located on 155 acres of Formation #3, and produces some of the richest colors and structural properties when compared to other sandstone formations. Therefore, it is the preferred sandstone for architects, builders, landscapers, and masons because of the vast colors and the minimal waste produced from working with the stone.

Not only does Sunbelt Stone’s native Texas sandstone have superior qualities, it also is readily available to our customers. While many sandstone quarries in Texas are leased by the tenant (stone supplier), Sunbelt Stone is wholly owned by Bentley Ventures, LLC. Sunbelt Stone, LLC continues to offer multiple cuts of sandstone to its customers at a competitive price. The sandstone from Sunbelt’s quarry is easily removed from the ground with the use of a John Deere excavator. We do not utilize explosives or any other means of extraction that would either harm the environment or present the opportunity for harm or injury to Sunbelt’s workforce. Because extraction is relatively simple, Sunbelt is able to hold down the wholesale cost charged to our customers.
